Green silicon carbide is made from petroleum coke and high-quality silica as the main raw material, adding salt as an additive, and smelted at high temperature in a resistance furnace. Its hardness is between corundum and diamond, and its mechanical strength is higher than that of corundum.
Application areas
Green silicon carbide, suitable for processing carbide, glass, ceramics and non-metallic materials, in addition to semiconductor materials, high-temperature silicon carbide rod heaters, far-infrared source substrates, etc.
Production process
Green silicon carbide is manufactured in the same way as black silicon carbide, but the purity of the raw material used is higher, and it is also formed in a resistance furnace at a high temperature of about 2200°C. It is green, translucent, hexagonal, and has a higher Sic content than black silicon carbide.
